Electrical Safety in 2016

The PES/IAS chapter is proud to announce its first presentation of 2016. Jeff MacKinnon will be discussing Electrical Safety in 2016.

The event starts at 5:30 with light refreshments with the presentation to start at 6pm.

The presentation will be recorded for later publication on the Canadian Atlantic Section website.

Registration is free for members, and $10 for non-members.

Abstract:

Electrical Safety is an ever evolving topic, and in 2015 there was the biggest change in CSA Z462 since its creation. This presentation will be a short history on where Electrical Safety started, where we are today, and where it is likely going.

We will discuss the history of CSA Z462, how it is applied in the workplace and what the standard is, and just as important, what it isn’t.

Biography:

Jeff MacKinnon, P.Eng, PE is an electrical engineer with ten years experience in a variety of industries including commercial, mining, pulp and paper, and hydro electric. For the last few years he has been focused on hydro-electric facility refurbishment and heavy industrial power systems in the mining industry.

Jeff grew up in Nova Scotia, attending St. Francis Xavier University and Dalhousie University. He has worked across North America in various locations including Washington State, Newfoundland and Montana. In 2012, Jeff started JMK Engineering Inc.
